Thank you for joining us today on Therapy Unlocked, where we unlock the mind one conversation at a time. I am Final Girl M, and this is Glocal Living Legend, Katrina Mondragon.
SPEAKER_00Hello, Katrina Mondragon, Lines Professional Guys and Advice and Mental Health Counselor. And just because I'm a professional doesn't mean I'm your professional. So nothing we're going to talk about today should be taken as medical legal or otherwise advice. This podcast is purely education and amusement, and because she wants to be famous.
SPEAKER_01It's true. I'd like to be famous. I'd like to be famous and I'd like to monetize. And we are almost there, folks. So like, subscribe, comment, tell me your favorite recipe. Tell me your favorite color. Tell me your least favorite color. I want to know what you are thinking today. And speaking of, have you ever had an epiphany?
SPEAKER_00I'm not sure I know what that is. Is that like an idea out of nowhere?
SPEAKER_01It is kind of like an idea out of nowhere. You know what it is? It is the great concept you've been searching for.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. So in therapy, I think we call those aha moments.
SPEAKER_01It is. It is your aha moment when you have an aha moment or an epiphany, a great unlocking, so to speak, here on therapy unlocked. I've had several epiphanies in my life. Great moments when I've gone, that's what I'm supposed to be doing.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I don't know about that, but I've had a specific thought that I Googled because sometimes I Google my thoughts. I hate that that's a verb, but it is. I checked it out on the search engine, and it turns out that somebody else had this thought once upon a time. I thought, the more I learn, the less I seem to know. And I Googled that, and the person who said, The more I learn, the less I know was Einstein.
SPEAKER_01Really? Uh I you know, I love the story. I think you told me that Einstein didn't know his address. Oh, yeah. That made me feel so much better about myself. Katrina told me that story. Einstein called his college and said, Where does Einstein live? And they said, We can't give that information out. And he said, But I am Einstein. I don't know my address. And I was like, I often don't know my address. Maybe I'm Einstein level smart.
SPEAKER_00And they're smart in different ways. So some people think that there's just book smart, but there's actually like spatial intelligence, visual intelligence, auditory intelligence. There's a whole lot of different types of ways to think and know things that like I don't know. I don't know a lot.
SPEAKER_01I think that's really perceptive because you know who I think are some of the smartest people in the world is the autistic children. And I think they think in a completely different way, and maybe that is kind of more of a spatial thinking.
SPEAKER_00I've heard of a theory. Can you tell me what your thoughts are on this? Is that the autism is like an evolution of the human mind?
SPEAKER_01I agree. I agree. I absolutely think so. I myself am autistic, my son is autistic, and there are times that I feel like on a quantum level, we are thinking at a different speed. And there is just a speed of thought going on where I'll start talking to him and I'll be like, we're on a different wavelength, I think, and we're thinking on a different wavelength. And that's kind of what I started thinking of when I started thinking of epiphanies, because there will be times that I have a thought that is so profound to me that it may be about anything, it may be about religion, it may be about what I'm going to make in the crock pot, but the thought will feel so profound that I feel it from my head to my toes. And I think that is what an epiphany is. Okay, cool. Yeah, it's almost a thought that you feel with your entire body. Cool. Yeah. Yeah. That makes sense. Yeah. So when you're in therapy and you're working with somebody and they have an aha moment, do they tend to have a visceral reaction or a physical body reaction?
SPEAKER_00I do have people do like a body scan where you go from like you can go from your head to your toes or your toes to your head, and you just do like the light wood on a coffee machine. You scan your body real lightly with that light and notice any sensations that might be going on.
SPEAKER_01Oh, see, that ties really well with light work.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what light work is.
SPEAKER_01So light work and energy work is something that I work with in my spirituality because you know I identify as a Christian witch, and working with light and closing your eyes and visualizing the light in your body is something that you can do to center and ground yourself spiritually.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. So there's a scientific component of visualization and meditation, and then there's the more woo-woo of like the more woo-woo spiritual version of that.
SPEAKER_01So maybe we unlocked something today on therapy unlocked. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They're not mutually exclusive. Science and spirituality are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that they are. I maybe we just had an epiphany. No, I knew that. Oh, okay. Well, I just had an epiphany. I felt that. It was tingly. That was a good one.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of tingly, have you ever had a brain click or a brain zap? Oh, I do get the brain zap. I've only ever had it one time, and it was when I realized something. Maybe that was an epiphany, but it was like it clicked in my brain, the mortality of someone I love. And so then that click, I heard the neurons like firing in my brain, wiring to that new information. You know what that reminds me of? Is Batty from Ferngully. I remember Ferngully. Only Fools are positive.
SPEAKER_01Yes, only fools are positive.
SPEAKER_00That's what I remember from Ferngully.
SPEAKER_01Alright, well, I think that wraps up our talk on Epiphanies. Thank you for joining us on Therapy Unlocked today. We'll see you next time.
